Georgian Academy of Sciences A.Djanelidze Institute of Geology Address: Geological Institute of Georgian Academy of Sciences,Founded on December 25, 1925. Within the Georgian Academy of Sciences from the foundation of the latter (1941). Scientific fields: regional geology, tectonics and seismotectonics, stratigraphy and paleontology, petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry, geology of mineral deposits, sedimentology, volcanology, minerageny, isotopic geochronology. Director : corresponding member of Georgian Academy of Sciences, Professor Mirian Topchishvili (stratigraphy-paleontology).
Scientific contacts and joint projects with foreign countries have not get established. Institutes periodical proceedings- Akhali seria (New series). Up to 1998 - 108 issues have been published. Institute has 6 departments, 12 sectors, 4 large laboratories- chemical, physical crystallography, and also one scientific - research base. Institute carries out scientific research in nearly all fields of geology within the territory of Georgia. Among them ore works of significant scientific importance.
