Date of foundation:
1956, since 1956 the Institute has been in the system of Academy of Sciences.

Main sphere of research:
Mining and processing of manganese, arsenic, copper, barium, coke; electrochemical kinetics, radiochemistry, thermodynamics, optical spectroscopy, catalysis, electrocrystallization, non-aqueous electrochemistry, coordination compounds.

Director: Japaridze Jondo, D.Sc. (Chemistry), Prof., member of the Georgian Academy of Science, specialist in electrochemical kinetics.

Members of the Academy, doctors, candidates of sciences:
One academician, two correspondent-members, 15 D.Sc. and 106 PhD-s work at the Institute.

The Institute published 10 volumes of "Manganese Electrochemistry" and few tens of books. Today the institute has no regular publications because of financial problems.
