In 1963 - a Doctor's degree.

The field of his scientific activity is history of philosophy (Georgian and German).
He teaches at Tbilisi State University, delivers a course of lecture on Medieval philosophy and a special course on Immanuel Kant's "Critique of Pure Reason". He is Head of the Chair of History of Philosophy at the University and Academician- Secretary of the Department of Social Sciences at the Georgian Academy of Scieces. He is a member of Goethe International Society (Weimar) and of the Philosophical Society of Georgia. He presented the Principle of equal primacy of knowledge and faith. He considers that every kind of irrationalism and mysticism, in the end, is based on selfcriticism of human reson. He sees the existence of this principle not only in Kant, but in Plato, Neoplatonians, and in modern, so-called critical rationalism and in post-modern philisophy as well. He has published 102 scientific works in Georgian, Russian, German and Chinese; among them four books. Reviews on them were published in Georgian, Russian, German and English. He delivered lectures at the universities of Moscow (1981), Jena (GErmany 1979), Changchun (China 1990), and at the institute of Philosophy and Law in Vilnius (Lithuania 1986).
