Nikoloz Skhirtladze

Date of Birth: August 25, 1911

Professor in the field of geological sciense.

From 1941 till 1951 - Senior research worker of Institute of Geology of Georgian Academy of Sciences;
From 1951 till 1960 - Chear of the Department of Litology of the same Institute.

In 1961 was awarded the title of professor.

The main spheres of my activity:
petrology, volcanology, sedimentology and mineralogy. Since 1939 has been occupying with the pedagogical work. Since 1960 has been leading the Department of mineralogy and petrography of Tbilisi State University.

In 1970 was given the honorary title of Meritorious Science worker of Georgia

Memberships:

• Member the Section of volcanology and the earth's chemistry of interdepartmental geophysical commossion under the Presidium of the Scademy of Sciences of USSR;
• Member of geological section of the research-technical Board under the Ministry of High and Special Education of USSR, member of petrographical commission of the Caucasus-Crimea-Carpathians;
• Since 1992 have been vice-president of zeolitic association of Georgia;
• Editor of the Proceedings of Tbilisi State University (Series of geology and geography)
