Vladimer Papava

Date of birth: March 25, 1955

1977 - graduated from Tbilisi State University, Facultu of Enginering-Economic with specialization Economic Cybbernetics.
1982 - defended a thesis for a Candidates masters degree.
1989 - defended a thesis for Doctors degree.
1997 - was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Georgian Academy of Sciences.
1991-1996 - Director of P. Gugushvili Institute of Economy of Georgian Academy of Sciences, since 1996 scientific instructor of the same institute.
1994 up to present Minister of Economy.
1994 up to present Head of the Economic Section of the Scientific Experts Board and Coordination Board.

Vladimer Papava is a member of the Society of the Advencement of Economic Theory (USA, from 1990), the International Input-Output Association (Austria, from 1992), the International Informatization Academy (Russia, from 1994), the International Academy of Sciences, Education, Industry & Arts (USA, from 1997), the Roual Economic Society (UK, from 1997), the International Biographical Association (UK, from 1998).

From 1994 one of the founders and Vice-President of the Georgian Academy of Economic Sciences.

Vladimer Papava is the Chier Editor of the journal "Proceedings of the Academy of Georgia, Economic Series",a Member of the Board of the journals "Economics" and "Micro-Macro Economics".Member of the Editorial Board of the journal "problems of Economic Transition" from 1997.

Under his guadence many post graduates and researchers had defended theses for Candidates Masters degree.

Vladimer Papava is the autor of more than 10 books and monographs, and more
than 100 papers. The main papers are:
