Shota Nadirashvili, a director of the Institute of Psychology, professor, Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Georgia works in General Psychology; he created the Anthropic theory of Attitude. He is the author of the monographes: "General Psychology" (in two volumes), "Problems of Psychology of Perception", Competition and Cooperation", "Social Psychology of Personality", "Attitude and Behavior", "Alcoholic and Personality". Professor Nadirashvili works on the psychological problems of current social processes, he has studied the attitudes of the society and various groups, authorities, socialinstitutions, traditions, social values.
He brought into the Attitude theory the following system of notions: - assimilation, contrast, accommodation, repudiation, the act of perceiving the conscious contents of assimilation and contrast are performed through the attitude; as far accommodation and repudiation it is the belonging of the attitude - it comes closer as moves away from the given position. He postulates the regularity of contrast feeling and assimilation process. In the sphere of psychic activity he distinguished the following levels: individual, subject and personality; showed that the attitudes corresponding to these levels differ in factors and components. He also emphasized the role of unconsciousness in the process of the attitude formation and change on the high level of psychical activity; two forms of attitude: actual and dispositional have been distinguished.
Professor Nadirashvili denied the thesis "behavior determines an attitude", showed that situational attitude together with other factors forms with the attitude of a new behaviour and regularities of
the attitude are determined by the activity system, which is based on the assimilation, contrast, accommodation and repudiation.
