Japaridze Levan Abel

Date of Birth: November 14, 1936

Mining engineer, Doctor of Technical sciences (1978), Professor (1983), corr. memb. of the Academy of Sciences of Georgian (1997), member of Georgia (1990) and Russian (1997) Engineering Academies, member of the Russian Academy of Mining sciences (1997), member of the International Informatization Academy (1994) and the Industry, Education and Art International Academy of America (1997).

Prof. Japaridze graduated from Georgian Technical University, faculties of Construction (1960) and Mining (1962). In 1960-1965 Mr. Japaridze worked as an engineer in "Sakshakhtproekti", in 1965-68 he is a post graduate student of the Institute of Mining Geomechanics and Marcshaidery in St.Peterbug. Since 1969 Mr. Japaridze workes in the Institute of Mining Mechanics of the Georgrian Academy of Sciences: 1969-72 - Senior Scientist, 1972-86 - head of laboratory, Director of the Institute (since 1987). From 1992 he is Chairman of the Committee (now - Department) for Science and Technology of Georgia.

Prof. L.Japaridze is specialist in the field of: theory and practice of mining design transport, hidrotechnical and other underground constructions; scientific problems of processing of deposit, strength and failure of materials.
