Graduated from the Georgian Technical University in 1966. Up to 1968 he worked at the Technical University as an assistant at the Chair of Electric Machines. In 1968-1974 – post-graduate study and work at the Institute of Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture. Since 1974 he has been working at the Georgian Agricultural Institute (now the State Agrarian University) as a senior teacher, assistant professor, professor, chief of the Chair of Electric Engineering and Electric Drive (since 1989).
His scientific activity deals mainly with the problems of electrification of agriculture and electromechanics – with special electrified transportation-technological machines, exploitation of electric plants.
He is deputy chairman of the Board of Academic Experts (1997), secretary of sub-committee for Education of the National Committee of UNESCO (1996), member of the Board of Library Development Foundation (1995), member of the National Academy of Energetics (1995).
