Structure

The main subdivisions of the Society are Primary groups at the scientific institutions and universities as well as regional branches in regions and towns. The Society is run by a Board including President and 2 vice-presidents.

Personnel of the Society

365 members including 7 honorary members,23 professors, ministers of Georgian Government and 9 directors of scientific institutes.

Major activities

  • Popularization of the latest achievements in the field of Bio-Medical Engineering
  • Elaboration and preparation of individual hard- and software instrumental complexes for investigation in the field of Biology, Medicine, and Environmental Control on the basis of Laboratory of Society - "AXON".

Editions

'Biomedteqnika'- a multi-lingual Collection of works. published since 1972, Vol. 11 now in press. Periodical publication devoted to current news in Bio-Medical Engineering and technology including methods of investigation.

Emblem

The emblem represents stylized female robot, unifyng images of Georgian princess of the eighth century B.C. - Medea (pet name - Medico) known from antique mythology about Argonauts as magician healer by means of herbs and berries, cultivated in special plantation and whose name is connected with the term "Medicine", and the symbol of Mother-Georgia, embodiment of kindness, hospitality and adamant in her protection.
