Engineering-geology, Issues of natural elemental processes and Geoecology;

Emil
Tsereteli during the last 40 years
conducts different scale and trend engineering- geological, geodynamical,
geomorphological and geoecological researches
in South Russia, Pamirs-Tianshan Mountain Systems, Tajikistan, Kirghizia,
Uzbekistan, Caucasus, Turkey.
Main works executed under Supervision and
direct Participation by Dr. Tsereteli:
- Elaborated
1:500 000 scale maps of the engineering-geological conditions of Kubani
region (Russian Federation) and of Pamirs-
Alai Mountain Systems;
- Elaborated
1: 200 000 and 1:50 000 scale maps of the engineering- geological conditions
of the entire territory of Georgia;
- Elaborated
large scale 1: 10 000 and medium scale 1:25 000
maps and carried out special engineering –geological researches for
the 40% of the territory of Georgia aimed at development
of agricultural land management
and industrial objects expediency projects;
- Issued anti- erosion
generalized scheme of Georgian territory and elaborated landslides, mudflows
and sea-shore washing long-term
prognosis to 1981-2000;
- Elaborated
and issued 1:200 000 scale map on development of
hazardous geological processes and
engineering –geological conditions of the territory of Georgia,
1:500 000 scale maps of landslides and mudflows
developments and
on zoning of
risk danger on the territory of Georgia;
- Detail
(1: 2 000 and 1: 1 000) special
engineering-geological researches for more than 100 objects in purpose of
anti landslide, mudflow and erosion arrangements development
- Prepared
large scale (1: 10 000) engineering –geological maps
for elaboration of general scheme for urban redevolopment of Tbilisi,
Batumi, Sokhumi, Kutaisi and Chiatura towns;
- Carried
out detailed engineering- geological researches related to complications of
Transcaucasian gas pipeline;
- Provided
expertise and recommendations on environmental and social impact assessment
report on construction and exploitation of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan
Oil Pipeline;
- Provided
expertise and recommendations on landslide hazards
probability for Western Direction (Baku - Supsa) Exportation Pipeline
Rout on Georgian segment;
- Were
estimated landslide danger risk on Tsikhisjvari-Kodiana segment of
Baku-Tbilisi – Ceyhan Pipeline Rout.
- Worked
out monitoring program on
functioning and researches of hazardous geological processes and changes of
geological environment, already realized on entire territory of Georgia.
Carried out
detailed engineering –geological researches:
- For
nuclear power station construction;
- For
Marneuli heavy machine-building plant construction;
- For
Batumi 20 storey hotel construction;
- For
estimation stability of Enguri hydro power station derivation tunnel and
adjacent territory;
- Engineering-geological
researches according to Spitac (Armenia)1988 and Racha-Imereti (Georgia)
1991 catastrophic earthquakes for reconstruction purposes;
- Arrangement
of underground monitoring net in Tbilisi Old City, for World Bank, DHV
Consultants and Cultural Initiative joint project;
- Engineering-geological
researches for GPC on Western Route Pipeline Project on Georgian Territory;
- Engineering-geological
researches for feasibility study of Russian-Armenian
natural gas pipeline rout.
- Were
carried out engineering-geological researches of Khashuri-Batumi pipeline
for rehabilitation measures preliminary assessment;
- Were
elaborated and issued 1:200 000 scale map and Engineering-geological studies
for Turkish -Georgian joint project “Multidisciplinary”
Geological study of “Turkish-Georgian Boardline”;
- Engineering-geological
study for subway construction project in Trabzon City (Turkey);
Main
scientific results of Dr. Emil Tsereteli are analyzed in more than 200
scientific monographs and articles. Most of them are issued in different
countries around the world: Russia, NIS, India, Portugal, Turkey, Italy, Sweden,
Greece, China, Canada, Great Britain, along them under UNEP and UNESCO were
issued research experience of landslides and mudflows in Georgia.
